Vacate Cleaning List

A woman reaching down to a bucket of cleaning products, rubber gloves and a mop, as she's preparing to vacate and clean her home.

General Cleaning (All Rooms)

  • Walls and Ceilings: Wash all walls and ceilings. Remove all marks, smudges, and cobwebs.

  • Blinds and Curtains: Clean blinds and wash curtains or have them dry-cleaned – if recommended on labels.
  • Cupboards and Drawers: Clean inside and outside of all cupboards, shelves, and drawers.

Laundry

  • Sink and Taps: Clean and remove any stains.
  • Washing Machine/Dryer (if applicable): Clean inside and out.
  • Cupboards and Shelves: Wipe down inside and out.

Outdoors (if applicable)

  • Lawns and Gardens: Mow lawns, trim edges, weed garden beds.
  • Paths, Driveways, and Garages: Sweep and clean any oil stains or debris.
  • Bins: Empty, clean, and return to the proper location.
  • Balconies/Decks/Patios: Sweep and mop.
  • Pool: To be cleaned to the same standard as it was when you moved in.

Additional Notes

  • Pest Control: Organise professional pest control if required by the lease agreement.
  • Repairs: Ensure any damage is repaired, such as patching holes or replacing broken fixtures.

This checklist ensures that you leave the property in a condition that meets the expectations of a final inspection and avoids disputes over bond refunds. You are only required to clean the property to the standard it was in when you moved in.
